Bucs Top Radford in Road Victory

RADFORD, VA. – Charleston Southern won all but one match in singles as they topped Radford in a 6-1 road win on Tuesday afternoon.

The Buccaneers (6-7, 4-3) fell behind at the start of the match when the Highlanders (8-7, 3-3) took doubles on court three, 6-2. Madalina Man and Tiffany Pyritz evened doubles with a 6-4 win on court one. Yana Morar and Femcke Van Rensburg, playing together for the first time since February 23rd, took their match on court two 6-4 to earn the doubles point for CSU.

In singles, the Bucs won five matches in two sets and quickly clinched the match win with victories on the bottom three courts. Liz Williams won 6-4, 6-1 on court four, Tiffany Pyritz won 6-1, 6-3 on court six, and Michelle Schmitz won 6-4, 6-2 on court five.

Two Bucs finished their matches in two sets, but needed tiebreakers to decide their second sets. Madalina Man and Filippa Ericson won their matches on courts one and two by a score of 6-1, 7-6. Kimberley Koerner rebounded from a 0-6 first set loss to win her second set 7-6, but lost her third set tiebreaker 10-4.
