Buccaneers record four top-five finishes at Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Four Buccaneers recorded top-five finishes at the Wake Forest Invitational as Charleston Southern took on the 30-team field this weekend at the JDL Fast Track.

TeJyrica Robinson (60m hurdles), Jasmine Pilgrim (60m dash), Aluntrea Davis (200m) and Victoria Gibson (Long Jump) all placed in the top five in their respective events in CSU's second indoor track & field meet of the season.

Robinson finished fifth overall in the finals of the 60m hurdles, crossing the line with a time of 8.85 to lead the Bucs in the event. She finished with the sixth-fastest time in the event in the CSU record books. Caroline Edmondson finished 15th in the prelims with a time of 9.51, while Areale Frazier (9.65, 20th) and Destinie Little (9.84, 24th) all took on the field in the event.

Pilgrim led the way in the 60m dash to pace two Bucs who made the finals in the event. Pilgrim finished fifth overall with a time of 7.76, while Robinson crossed the line eighth with a time of 7.86 to lead CSU. Davis narrowly missed becoming the third Buccaneer to qualify for the finals in placing ninth with a time of 7.82, while Alexis Adams finished 27th in the field with a time of 8.19.

Davis and Danielle Burnett led the way for CSU in the 200m dash with the Buccaneer duo both finishing in the top eight in the field. Davis led the way with a fifth place finish, crossing the line in 25.49. Burnett placed seventh overall with a time of 25.57. Sophomore Alexis Adams placed 16th overall among the field with a time of 26.53.

Freshman Victoria Gibson recorded her first collegiate top-five finish in the long jump to lead three CSU jumpers in the field. Gibson finished with a distance of 5.28m to place fifth among the field. Anaia Hood finished 17th overall with a distance of 4.94m, while Caroline Edmondson placed 32nd with a long jump of 4.50m.

Gibson added a sixth-place result in the women's triple jump to lead the Bucs in the field. The Virginia Beach, Va. native finished with a distance of 11.27m to lead CSU in the event.

Kolisha Coleman topped CSU's efforts in the 400m event, placing sixth overall with a time of 59.59. Little (41st, 1:04.66) and Nina Massie (47th, 1:07.07) both joined Coleman among the field in the event.

Traci Drayton took on the field as CSU's lone representative in the 800 meters. The Irmo, S.C. native finished 20th overall with a time of 2:31.17 in the event.

Freshman Alexus Foreman paced the Bucs in the shot put event, finishing eighth overall with a distance of 12.96m. Madison McCoy joined her in the field, placing 19th overall with a distance of 10.62m.

Charleston Southern continues the 2017 indoor track & field season on February 3-4 at the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. at the JDL Fast Track.
