WTRACK PREVIEW: Bucs look to continue early season success against deep field at Camel City Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern women's track and field team will take on a deep field at this weekend's Camel City Invitational held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. Competition starts on Friday afternoon with the Mile Run and will conclude on Saturday afternoon with the 60m hurdle finals.

JDL is a familiar surface for the Bucs with CSU competing in the Wake Forest Invitational held on January 21. JDL will also host the Big South Indoor Championships on February 25-26.

The dedicated indoor track and field facility, which opened in January 2012, houses a  200-meter oval track with a Mondotrack FTX surface—the same surface that was used at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Field event areas include two pole vault runways, two long/triple jump runways, one high jump apron and one throws area.

CSU will look to ride the momentum gained at the Wake Forest Invitational two weeks ago with four CSU individuals recording top-five finishes in their respective events.

TeJyrica Robinson finished fifth overall in the 60m hurdles to lead CSU in the event on the day, crossing the line with a time of 8.85. Jasmine Pilgrim continued her strong career with the Buccaneers with a fifth-place result in the 60m dash with a time of 7.76. Aluntrea Davis paced CSU in the 200m dash with a time of 25.49 to finish fifth overall, while Victoria Gibson rounded out the Bucs' top five with a fifth-place result in the long jump (5.28m).

Gibson nearly cracked the top five in another event, placing sixth overall in the triple jump with a distance of 11.27m.

Overall, 18 Buccaneers will take on the field at the JDL Fast Track as CSU continues preparations for the 2017 Big South Indoor Championships.

Results from the meet will be available at CSUSports.com following the competition.
