WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Danielle Burnett and Caroline Edmondson paced Charleston Southern with a pair of second-place finishes in the 400-meter run and the unseeded high jump on the first day of the Camel City Invitational at the JDL Fast Track.
Burnett won her heat and turned in the second fastest time overall in the women's 400m to finish on the podium. Burnett clocked in with a time of 57.60 to finish behind only UNC's McKinley McNeill (55.77) in the event.
Edmonson paced the Bucs with a second-place finish in the women's unseeded high jump event. She tied with Elon's Emily Dixon with a height of 1.56m to lead CSU in the field.
Junior sprinter Jasmine Pilgrim led the Bucs in the Women's 60m qualifying round, finishing 19th among a deep field. Pilgrim crossed the line with a time of 7.79 to pace the Bucs in the event. Aluntrea Davis finished five spots back with a time of 7.88, while Alexis Adams placed 37th (8.11) overall in the field.
Areale Frazier finished 51st overall in the field in the women's 800m run. Davis crossed the line in 2:31.74 in the event.
TeJyrica Robinson led CSU's efforts in the 60m hurdles qualifying round, finishing ninth among the field in the round with a time of 8.67. Edmondson finished with a time of 9.34 in the event, while Frazier crossed the line with a time of 10.09 overall.
Bethany Thornhill paced CSU in the women's 3000m run finishing 39th overall in the field with a time of 11:49.03.
Victoria Gibson led three Bucs in the long jump event placing 13th overall with a distance of 5.15m. Anaia Hood was two spots back in 15th with a long of 5.10 meters, while Demisha Norman tied for 23rd overall with a distance of 4.96m in the event.
Alexus Foreman and Madison McCoy took on the field in the women's weight throw event, placing 13th and 15th respectively in the field. Foreman finished with a distance of 13.55m, while McCoy topped out at 13.32 in the event.
Charleston Southern completes the final day of the Camel City Invitational tomorrow morning at the JDL Fast Track. The women's 200-meter dash and the triple jump open the day at 9:30 a.m.
