CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern readies itself for its third appearance at the JDL Fast Track this weekend as the Buccaneers compete in the 2017 Big South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Buccaneers will take on the rest of the conference field on February 25-26 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The two-day event begins with the pentathlon at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning and ends with the 1600m relay at 4:35 p.m. on Sunday. The team awards ceremony will conclude the event at 5 p.m. on Sunday evening.
JDL is a familiar surface for the Bucs with CSU competing in the Wake Forest Invitational held on January 21 and the Camel City Invitational on February 3-4. JDL will also host the Big South Indoor Championships on February 25-26.
The dedicated indoor track and field facility, which opened in January 2012, houses a 200-meter oval track with a Mondotrack FTX surface—the same surface that was used at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Field event areas include two pole vault runways, two long/triple jump runways, one high jump apron and one throws area.
CSU features a number of athletes that sit among the Big South leaders in their respective events on the indoor season paced by strong performances in the 200m, 60m hurdles, and shot put.
