COLUMBIA, S.C. - Charleston Southern took on the field at the USC Open on Saturday as the Buccaneers closed out the 2017 regular season this weekend at the Cregger Track on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
Joshua Paramore paced the Bucs in the men's 100m dash with a time of 11.08 to finish 15th in the field. Niegel Simmons tied for 23rd on the day in the event with a time of 11.26.
Kolisha Coleman turned in a strong effort for the Bucs in the women's 200m dash with a time of 24.21 to finish just off the podium in fourth place overall. Davis placed ninth in the field with a time of 24.73, while Alexis Adams placed 11th with a time of 25.18. Danielle Burnett was 13th overall in the field with a time of 25.31 and Jasmine Pilgrim placed 18th with a time of 25.86.
Sheldon Townsend led CSU in the men's 200m dash placing 26th in the field with a time of 22.78.
Adams turned in a top 10 finish for the Bucs in the women's 400m dash, crossing the line seventh overall with a time of 57.61.
Justin Green and Keith Terry finished back-to-back in the men's 400m dash. Green crossed the line 20th overall with a time of 50.47, while Terry placed 21st with a time of 51.14.
Emma-Lisa Murphy and Madison Burkholder both finished in the top three in the women's 3000m steeplechase. Murphy crossed the line second overall with a time of 12:17.44, while Burkholder placed third in the event with a time of 12:22.76.
Vincent Johnson led the Bucs in the men's 110m hurdles finishing fourth among collegiate athletes in the field with a time of 14.66. Dadrekas Hill was 11th among collegiate athletes in the race with a time of 15.94.
Edmondson led the Bucs in the women's 400m hurdles event with a time of 1:05.52. Her time placed her seventh among the field.
Josiah Scarlett and Terik Johnson took on the field in the men's 400m hurdles placing 10th and 14th respectively. Scarlett crossed the line in 56.92, while Johnson finished in 58.03 in the event.
The quartet of Robinson, Davis, Pilgrim, and Coleman took on the field in the women's 4x100m relay on Saturday, placing sixth overall with a time of 46.53 on the day. On the men's side, the team of James Allen, Paramore, Ellijah Henry, and Green placed fourth overall with a time of 41.52.
The Bucs teams also took on the 4x400m relay event. The women's team of Coleman, Burnett, Pilgrim, and Adams placed seventh in the field with a time of 4:04.14. The men's team of Green, Paramore, Johnson, and Townsend finished fifth with a time of 3:20.49.
Frankie Thomas tied for fourth in the men's high jump event finishing with a height of 1.98m. Josiah Edwards placed three spots back in seventh place with a height of 1.88m.
Demisha Norman led the way in the women's long jump event finishing fifth overall with a distance of 5.16m. She reached the mark in her final jump of the day.
Simmons was the top jumper for the men's side in the men's long jump finishing fifth overall with a distance of 7.00m. He achieved the distance on his fifth jump of the day. Thomas placed seventh overall with a jump of 6.73m, while Timothy Davis was ninth with a distance of 6.29m.
Davis led the Bucs in the men's triple jump with the freshman placing fourth overall in the field. Davis hit 13.82m in his third jump of the day.
Milan Williams was CSU's top finisher in the women's discus throw reaching a mark of 40.99m in her second attempt of the day to place fourth in the event. Madison McCoy was seventh overall with a throw of 38.42m, while Alexus Foreman placed eighth with a throw of 36.81m. Briana Sims rounded out the group with a throw of 35.48m to finish 10th in the field.
Clarence Moss was CSU's top thrower in the men's discus event finishing 10th in the field with a throw of 38.03m in his final attempt.
Williams also paced the Bucs in the women's hammer throw finishing fifth overall with a distance of 52.35m. McCoy placed 10th in the field with a throw of 40.58m.
Jacob Moore was the Bucs' top finisher in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 45.84m finishing 13th in the field.
Megan Newton led the way in the women's javelin event with a long throw of 30.61m in her final attempt to place 10th in the field.
Cameron Dominy led the Bucs in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 50.94m to place sixth overall.
Foreman took a top five finish in the women's shot put with a throw of 12.73m to pace fifth on the day. Sims was one spot back with a throw of 12.14m.
Ryan Spiecha paced the Bucs in the men's shot put event with a throw of 15.15m to finish fourth on the day. Moore was 12th overall with a throw of 13.47m, while Moss took 22nd in the field with a throw of 10.97m.
Charleston Southern is back in action at the 2017 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by CSU at the Bagwell-Settle Track on May 10-12.
