4x100 relay team takes title; Bucs place fourth overall at Big South Championship

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern 4x100m relay team took the title at the 2017 Big South Outdoor Championships to highlight the Buccaneers' efforts on the final day at the Bagwell-Settle Track. The Bucs finished fourth overall with 102 points over the three-day meet.

The Bucs took their first team title since the 2010 season and third overall as the quartet of TeJyrica Robinson, Jasmine Pilgrim, Alexis Adams, and Kolisha Coleman crossed the line in 46.05 to pace the field for the first championship for the CSU women's track and field team on the weekend.

Liberty took the team title as the Flames wrapped up the meet with 253 overall points. Campbell finished second with 162 points, while High Point placed third with 120 points. Gardner-Webb wrapped up the top five with 52 points.

Demisha Norman and Victoria Gibson finished back-to-back in the triple jump finals on Friday morning. Norman placed sixth overall with a distance of 11.42m, while Gibson placed seventh with 11.35m.

Alexus Foreman was on the podium to pace the Bucs in the shot put finals. Foreman recorded her best throw of 13.28m in her third attempt to finish second overall on the day. Briana Sims narrowly missed out on joining her teammate after finishing fourth overall with a throw of 13.00m. Milan Williams placed sixth overall with a throw of 12.31m, while Madison McCoy was 10th with a throw of 11.17m.

Senior Emma-Lisa Murphy finished fifth overall in the women's 1500m finals to lead the Bucs in the event. Murphy crossed the line in 4:45.22.

Robinson was CSU's top finisher in the 100m hurdles finals. The freshman crossed the line in 14.19 to place sixth overall.

Seniors Danielle Burnett and Coleman finished back-to-back in the 400m finals. Burnett finished seventh overall with a time of 1:00.34, while Coleman was eighth with a time of 1:00.92.

Jasmine Pilgrim was narrowly edged at the line in the women's 100m dash as the CSU junior placed second overall in the event with a time of 11.80. Robinson placed fifth overall with a time of 12.10.

Coleman was also on the podium for CSU in the 200m finals. The senior finished with a time of 24.34 to place second overall in the event. Pilgrim finished fifth overall with a time of 24.958.

Senior Madison Burkholder finished 20th overall in a deep 5000m field. Burkholder crossed the line in 20:45.16.

The CSU 4x400m relay team closed out the Big South Championship with a third place finish. The quartet of Coleman, Burnett, Pilgrim, and Adams earned the Bucs' final podium spot of the weekend.
