Stintzi, Bucs announce 2019 Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Schedules

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern is back at home with three meets in the outdoor season as the Buccaneers announced the indoor and outdoor track and field schedules on Wednesday afternoon.

2019 Charleston Southern Track & Field Schedule

CSU opens up the outdoor schedule with the CSU Spring Break Invitational for the third consecutive season on March 15-16. The Bucs add the Buccaneer Invitational (Mar. 22-23) and the CSU Tune-Up (May 1) to their home slate for the 2019 season.

"We are excited about our schedule this year," said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jim Stintzi. "It's a great blend of Big South/mid-major competition, as well as the chance to go head-to-head with Power 5 and other large schools. It will challenge our team, but ultimately help us grow as a program."

The Bucs open the indoor season at the Clemson Orange and Purple Open on January 12. CSU is back at Clemson the following weekend at the Clemson Invitational on January 18-19. The Bucs close out the opening month of the indoor season at the VMI Team Challenge on January 26 in Lexington, Va.

CSU hits the road for the final meet prior to the Big South Championships at the Liberty Elite Invitational on February 9 hosted by Liberty University. The conference championships are held in Lynchburg, Va. at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex on February 15-16. The NCAA Indoor Championships will be hosted in Birmingham, Ala. on March 8-9.

Outdoor season begins at the Bagwell-Settle Track Complex as the Bucs host the first two events of the year. CSU hosts the two-day CSU Spring Break Invitational on March 15-16 for the first event. The Bucs host the Buccaneer Invitational the following weekend on March 22-23. CSU hits the road for the final meet of the opening month at the Florida Relays hosted by the University of Florida on March 29-30.

Following an open weekend, the Bucs will split the squad up for the Charlotte Invitational and the N.C. A&T Aggie Invitational on April 12-13. CSU travels to Charlottesville, Va. the ensuing weekend for the Virginia Challenge hosted by UVA on April 19-20.

CSU will compete at two final events prior to the Big South Outdoor Championships. CSU hits the road on April 28 at the Mountaineer Open hosted by Appalachian State. The Bucs will host The Citadel on May 1 for a one-day event at the Bagwell-Settle Track.

The Big South Outdoor Championships will be hosted by Winthrop University at the Irwin Belk Track on May 8-10 in Rock Hill, S.C.

The NCAA East Regionals are slated for North Florida University in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 23-25. The NCAA Championships will be held in Austin, Texas at the University of Texas.
