CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Bucs will get a taste of the environment they'll be racing in for next week's Big South Championship at the Eagle Twilight on Wednesday afternoon. The meet, hosted by Winthrop, will be at the same track at the conference championship that starts a week from Wednesday. This will be the last competition for the Bucs before the big meet.
The Eagle Twilight meet will begin at 4pm on Wednesday with the hammer throw. Track events will get underway at 6pm with the 4x100 meter relay.

One week away from the conference championship, the Bucs will look to their upperclassmen for leadership down the stretch. Bethany Thornhill, the lone senior on the team, ranks in the conference top 10 in both the 5K and 3K steeplechase.
The junior class will also provide leadership with athletes like Caroline Edmondson, Victoria Gibson, and Milan Williams who are among the best athletes in the Big South. Edmondson ranks in the top five of both the hurdle events, Gibson is sixth in the high jump and second in the triple jump, and Williams is in the top five of the hammer, shot put, and discus.
Winthrop's Irwin Belk Track opened in 2005 as part of the school's track and soccer complex. The Mondo rubberized track surrounds a large field area for all the jump and throw events. The track will also host next week's Big South Championship for the third time in its existence.
