Charleston Southern hits the road for a pair of Big South matches this weekend at Gardner-Webb and Liberty. First serve between the Bucs and Runnin' Bulldogs on Friday is set for 6 p.m. CSU then travels to face Liberty on Saturday at 2 p.m.
CSU (7-13, 2-4) is coming off a straight set defeat at UNC Asheville this past Saturday and previously fell in four sets against Campbell on Oct. 3. In the last meeting between CSU and Gardner-Webb, the Bucs defeated the Runnin' Bulldogs in straight sets on Sept. 29 at the Buc Dome.
Kalysia Bates continues to lead CSU with 2.23 kills per set. Bates is second in the Big South in blocks per set (1.03). Kylie Klein is averaging 2.22 kills per set and is seventh in the league in hitting percentage (.292). Madison Martin leads the Bucs defensively with 4.60 digs per set.
Gardner-Webb (7-13, 1-6) is coming off a four set defeat against Presbyterian on Tuesday night and previously fell in straight sets to High Point this past Saturday. The Runnin' Bulldogs are led offensively by Kaelyn Dyson (2.45 kills per set). Dyson is third in the Big South in hitting percentage (.330). Keira Moore is first in the league in blocks per set (1.14). Emma Milstead leads Gardner-Webb with 4.39 digs per set.
Liberty (6-13, 3-3) will host Winthrop on Friday evening before facing CSU on Saturday afternoon. The Flames are coming off a straight set defeat at High Point on Tuesday night and previously fell in straight sets at Campbell on Oct. 6. Liberty is led offensively by Gabrielle Vess with 2.50 kills per set. Anna Gragg is fourth in the Big South in hitting percentage (.327). Margaret Latchford leads Liberty defensively with 3.58 digs per set.
