CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Senior libero Madison Martin has been named the Big South Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the conference office.
The award comes after Martin headlined CSU's defense with her 6.75 digs per set – the most in the Big South – in two crucial road wins at Hampton and Campbell. Those two wins secured CSU's spot in the Big South tournament.
Martin's efforts headlined a defense that held Hampton to a .085 hitting percentage from the floor while outdoing themselves Saturday, clamping down on Campbell's potent attack and keeping them at just .018.
Martin and the rest of the CSU volleyball team begins their quest for a Big South volleyball championship Friday when they take on third-seeded Winthrop at 4:30 p.m. from the campus of UNC Asheville.
