Volleyball coach Christy Mooberry's contract not being renewed

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern University Athletic Director Jeff Barber announced today that Head Volleyball Coach Christy Mooberry's contract will not be renewed.

"I'd like to thank Christy for her commitment to CSU," Barber said. "She has worked hard to build our volleyball program to the point we are today and the Buccaneer family wishes her the very best in her future endeavors."

In six seasons on the sidelines with the Buccaneers, Mooberry compiled a 61-123 record and a 24-66 mark in Big South competition. The Bucs had eight All-Conference postseason recognitions over the six-year span, including Kylie Klein earning 2016 Big South Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Mooberry's team excelled in the classroom with the Bucs earning AVCA All-Academic honors all six years. On the court, she helped mentor Ashley Higgenbothem (1,761, 2011-15) and Madison Martin (1,963, 2015-18) into becoming two of the top liberos in program history with the duo both earning All-Conference recognition during her tenure.

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately. Assistant Coach Laura Grace Belote will serve as the Interim Head Coach while the search is conducted.
