Women's Race – Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, The Citadel
Men's Race – Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, The Citadel, Savannah State
Women's 4K - 9 a.m.
Men's 6K - 9:30 a.m.
The meet is the first hosted by Charleston Southern in recent history and opens a strong schedule slate that includes trips to the NCAA Southeast Regional site at Winthrop, a trip to Lehigh, the local Citadel/CofC Invite, and the HPU Vert XC Invitational. The Bucs trip to High Point will be a preview of the 2018 Big South Conference Championships hosted by the Panthers this season on October 26.
CSU is expected to build off strong 2017 seasons last fall as the Buccaneers advanced to the NCAA Regionals with members from both teams last year.
The men's side returns All-Conference selection Jeryck Wilson and a deep roster that includes top-25 conference finishers Jaymee Domoney and Joshua Bowers. The Bucs placed third last season at the Big South Championships – the highest finish since the 1994 season. CSU was picked second in the conference's preseason poll this year. It was the Bucs' highest ranking in nearly 16 years.
The women's side also boasts veteran leaders returning to the team paced by returning sophomore Taylor Barnes. Barnes was one of two CSU athletes on the women's side to compete in the NCAA Regionals last year, while returners Bethany Thornhill and Javenique McDowell also return to provide key depth for the Bucs in 2018.
The course is laid out with both the start and finish lines placed toward the back corner of campus behind the Buccaneer Field House. The trail will wind through the wooded area behind campus and bring the runners out behind the right field fence of CSU Ballpark.
The women will run the circuit twice, while the men will make the loop three times. The finish line will be located near the road to the right of the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.
Charleston Southern takes a weekend off before making the trip to Rock Hill, S.C. for the Winthrop Invitational on September 15. The course on the campus of Winthrop University will also host the NCAA Southeast Regional on November 9.
