Charleston Southern senior distance runner Bethany Thornhill has been named the Donovan's Custom Framing CSU Scholar-Athlete of the Month for the month of May.
Thornhill is the final athlete to receive the accolades for the 2018-19 athletic season. She is the seventh athlete to earn recognition. The award will start back up again in the 2019-20 athletic year.
Thornhill majored in Biology with a Wildlife Emphasis before graduating this May at CSU's Commencement ceremonies. The Columbia, S.C. native graduated with a 3.97 GPA over her time at CSU. She was also recognized to the 2018 Big South Women's Cross Country All-Academic team.
The senior was a consistent scorer for the Charleston Southern women's cross country team this season. She finished third overall among the CSU runners at the Big South Championships as the Bucs recorded their best finish since the 1987 season. She was also third among the Bucs at the NCAA Southeast Regional and scored in all five events for the Bucs cross country team.
The senior added six top-10 finishes in the indoor and outdoor track seasons competing in the 3000, 5000, and the 3000 steeplechase events.
