Cuff leads way as Lady Bucs finish eighth at Big South Championships

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Senior Adrienne Cuff was the top finisher for the Charleston Southern women's cross country team at the 2012 Big South Cross Country Championships as the Lady Bucs finished tied for eighth overall in the team standings on Saturday morning.
Cuff averaged 6:09 per mile on the five-kilometer course to finish 30th overall with a time of 19:06.64 in the final Big South meet of her career as the Lady Bucs averaged 19:59.92 on the course to finish with 239 points, tying with Radford for eighth overall.
Liberty won the overall team title led by individual champion Jennifer Klugh as the Lady Flames finished with 40 points, while Coastal Carolina took second with last year's champion High Point finishing third overall.
Klugh was joined in the top five by Winthrop's Jeanne Stroud, UNC Asheville's Emma Bussard, VMI's Jenna Moye and High Point's Kayleigh Perry.
Freshman Jessie Dotson finished 56th overall on the course, averaging 6:26.1 per mile to cross the line with a time of 20:01.33, while senior Heidi Dean and junior Hannah Burkholder finished within one spot of each other, coming in 59th and 60th overall with times of 20:10 and 20:12 on the course. Dean was also named to the 2012 Big South Cross Country All-Academic Team during the postrace festivities.
Senior Susanna McKee also took on the course in her final Big South event finishing the race with a time of 20:29.10, averaging 6:35.6 per mile to place 62nd overall for Coach Ryan Thompson, while junior Mary Davidson finished three places back with a time of 20:37.55.
Senior Eloisa Paredes also ran in the event for the Lady Bucs, placing 69th overall with a time of 20:53.06, while sophomore Yana Lotspeich saw her first action of the season in crossing the line with a time of 21:09.73 to finish 74th overall among the field.
The Lady Bucs continue the 2012 cross country season on the road as CSU travels to Charlotte, N.C. on Friday, November 9th to take part in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.
