Dotson, Bucs take second at the Chucktown Throwdown on Friday

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern women's cross country team took second at the 2013 Chucktown Throwdown hosted by The Citadel on Friday afternoon, with the teams running at James Island County Park on the five-kilometer course.
Jessie Dotson again led the Buccaneers, continuing her strong sophomore season in finishing second overall behind The Citadel's Danielle McKee. Dotson crossed the line with a time of 19:19.88 to lead the Blue and Gold on the afternoon, finishing just over 10 seconds behind her top competitor in the race.
Freshman Madison Burkholder joined Dotson in the top five, finishing fifth overall with a time of 20:04.31, while fellow teammate and freshman Hannah Palm crossed the line right behind her, finishing with a time of 20:13.91 on the afternoon.
Senior Mary Davidson and freshman Emily Lyons rounded out the group with both finishing in the top 10 on the afternoon. Davidson led the way with a time of 20:53.97 to take eighth in the standings, while Lyons crossed the finish line in ninth, crossing with a time of 21:03.91.
The Buccaneers are back in action on November 3rd, making the trip up to Lexington, Va. for the 2013 Big South Cross Country Championships hosted by VMI.
