CSU competes at Briar's Creek Invitational

JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – Charleston Southern is tied for 16th after two rounds at the 2014 Briar's Creek Invitational. The teams played 36 holes on Monday. 

CSU is tied with Princeton at 660. No. 48 Illinois is in 15th, while No. 34 GRU Augusta leads the event. East Carolina, No. 11 Clemson, and Texas Tech round out the top four. 

Seniors Torey Johnson shot a 78 (+6) to open the day, but followed with an 84 on the afternoon. She birdied No. 17 in her second round to highlight her second round. 

Freshman Shelby Thompson fired a pair of 81s and is tied with Johnson. Thomson had a team-high four birdies in her two rounds. 

Freshman Bella Johnson was one of the few golfers in the field to play better in the tough afternoon winds. Johnson opened with an 84 (+12) and closed with an 81 (+9). She had three birdies in her two rounds. 

Senior Jordan Hollinshead added and 87 to open the day and an 85 to close. 

Freshman Hannah Barger shot a pair of 86s on the day, playing her first event of the spring.
