ROCK HILL, S.C. - Charleston Southern opened up their second tour through the Big South Conference on Saturday afternoon inside the Winthrop Coliseum, falling to the host Eagles 77-40.

Rochelle Brophy led the Bucs with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Tatum Jarvis was also in double-digits as the Eagles jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first half and held off the Bucs for the second time this season in the CSU loss.

Charleston Southern falls to 4-16, 0-11 in conference action, while Winthrop improves to 12-9, 8-4 in Big South Conference play.

Brophy was in double-digits for the second straight game as the sophomore center scored 10 points and had a team-high seven rebounds off the bench. Jarvis added 10 points, shooting 5-of-15 from the floor as the Bucs' leading scorer struggled to connect in the game.

Erica Williams led the way for Winthrop with a game-high 25 points and was joined in double-figures by Ezinne Mbamalu's 10 points. Schaquilla Nunn pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds as the Eagles had the 43-26 edge on the glass in the game.

The Bucs opened the scoring in the game on Brianna Lakes' jumper on the opening possession, but Winthrop took control of the game early, going up by 10 at the 10:24 mark on a Naima Jackson jumper to give the Eagles the 14-4 lead. The lead reached 20 before the half as CSU went into the break trailing 34-12.

CSU started the second half on fire as Jarvis and Alyssa Mann combined to hit their first three shots as the Bucs cut the deficit down to 18- with 17:52 to play. Mann's jumped put the score at 36-18, but Aliyah Kilpatrick connected on a three-pointer to push the lead back to 20 and CSU was unable to get closer the rest of the way in falling, 77-40.

CSU entered the contest second in the Big South in three-pointers per game, but the Bucs were unable to get it going from deep as Alise Karlsone connected on the lone CSU three-pointer in the contest. Overall, the Bucs shot 1-of-16 from behind the arc in the contest.

The Buccaneers are back in action on Sunday night as CSU hosts UNC Asheville in Big South Conference play inside the Buc Dome. Tipoff between the Bucs and the Bulldogs is set for 7 p.m.
