MORGANTON, N.C. – Charleston Southern freshman Milleina Ohara tied for 7th for her first career top 10 to help the Buccaneers to a third-place finish at the 2015 Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate. The 36-hole event was held on Monday at Mimosa Hills Country Club. Ohara tied with with teammate Shelby Thompson as two Buccaneers landed in the top 10 in their final event before next week's Big South Championships.
The Bucs finished third – their best finish since October – in the short event. CSU (604) was first among the five Big South schools in the field, finishing four strokes back of host and champion Appalachian State (600). St. Leo was second at 602, two strokes ahead of the Bucs.
The Bucs finished 15 strokes ahead of Gardner-Webb, their closest Big South competitior.
Ohara had her two lowest rounds in competition with a 74 (+2) and a 75 (+3) to finish at 149, five strokes off the pace set by medalist Jennifer Dilger from Winthrop.
Thompson's 72 (E) in the opening round was the second lowest round of the tournament as she picked up her second top 10 of the year.
Freshman Emelie Flink added a top 15 with a 77-74 to finish at 151. She tied for 13th.
Freshman Hayley McNeill was 22nd with a 77-78 to tie for 22nd, while sophomore Bella Johnson was 43rd with an 83-80.
CSU returns to action at the Big South Championships in Georgetown, S.C. The 54-hole event begins April 13 at DeBordieu Golf Club.
