HOUSTON, Tex. – Charleston Southern posted its second-lowest score of the weekend, a team-294 (+6) to finish seventh at the 2016 All-American Intercollegiate in Houston. Junior Austin James fired his second 70 (-2) in as many days to lead the Bucs with a sixth-place finish.
James, who was 3-under through 12 holes, had five birdies in his final round to notch his fifth Top 10 this season. Sophomore R.J. Keur finished 14th with a 73 (+1) on Sunday.
Arkansas rallied with a 9-under 279 in the final round to top Houston by one stoke for the team title. The Razorbacks finished at 9-under, while Houston was 5-over in its final round to finish one stroke back after beginning the day with a 13-stroke lead. Arkansas' Taylor Moore (-9) rallied to win the event with a 4-under 68 in the final round.
"Solid tournament by Austin James once again," CSU Director of Golf Mike Wilson said Sunday. "He is really close to breaking into the winner's circle. Really pleased with how R.J. (Keur) performed in his first tournament back. We will leave here a little disappointed, but know we can get better. All in all, the last two rounds were much better as a team."
Senior Taylor Zoller had his best round of the weekend with a 2-over 74. He was 1-under through 16 holes, but stumbled on his last two holes. He was 68th.
Sophomore Jake Ezell pieced together a 77 (+5) to finish 56th, while junior David Eller added an 88.
CSU returns to action in three weeks (March 13-12) at the General Hackler Championship, played in Myrtle Beach, S.C. at The Dunes Club.
