
Black leads Charleston Southern to third place finish at Will Wilson Citadel Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Freshman Kaitlyn Black topped her previous best time by over a minute to lead Charleston Southern to a third place finish at the Will Wilson Citadel Invitational on Saturday morning.
The freshman from Summerville, S.C. paced the Bucs with a team-best 20:40.95 to finish 11th overall in the field in her second collegiate race. Black's time was a minute faster than the pace she ran at the Carolina Challenge on September 3rd when she crossed the finish line in 21:44.93.
Senior Madison Burkholder finished seconds behind Black with a time of 20:41.30 to place 12th overall in the event. She also improved on her previous race time at the Carolina Challenge by more than a full second.
Kaitlyn Keene crossed the finish line 23rd overall in the field in her first event of the fall 2016 season. Her time was 22:18.08 on the 5K course.
Freshmen Bethany Thornhill (26th, 22:37.10) and Areale Frazier (33rd, 23:52.26) rounded out the Buccaneers' top five on the course at James Island County Park.
Sophomore Traci Drayton (34th) and freshmen Nina Massie (36th) and freshman Cassidy Davis (38th) also ran for the Buccaneers in their second race of the season.
Charleston Southern is back in action at the S.C. State Bulldog Duels on Saturday, October 1.
