Radford downs Bucs on Senior Day

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Radford took advantage of a penalty kick early in the second half to break a scoreless tie, and the Highlanders went on to a 2-0 victory over Charleston Southern in the final game of the regular season.

CSU now heads to High Point for a Big South Tournament quarterfinal game on Friday at 7 p.m. The Bucs handed the Panthers one of only two blemishes in conference play this season with a 2-2 tie in High Point on September 21.

Prior to Saturday's game the Bucs (7-9-2, 3-5-2 Big South) honored seniors Mallory Foster, Allie Crossland and Jazmin Gonzalez. Radford heads into the postseason with a record of 13-5-0 and 7-3-0 in the league.

How It Happened
•    The Bucs held the Highlanders to a 0-0 draw at halftime despite being outshot 13-2.
•    After a foul in the box in the 48th minute, Nelia Perez snuck the PK past Gonzalez to put Radford in front. 
•    Radford added an insurance goal in the 68th minute on a header by Izzy Armstrong, assisted by Perez.

Inside the Numbers
•    The Bucs outshot Radford, 7-6, in the second half but had only one shot on goal for the game.
•    Bri Robinson and Kayla Reese had two of CSU's nine total shots. The Highlanders finished with 19 and nine on target.
•    Gonzalez made seven saves, and Lexi Dean had the only Highlander save in 19 minutes of action.
•    The Bucs' attack produced seven corner kicks to only two for Radford.

News and Notes
•    CSU had its four-game winning streak come to an end.
•    Gonzalez moved into seventh place in school history with 180 career saves. She needs five to pass Jena Uvalle for sixth.
