CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston tallied two goals in the second half to break a scoreless tie, and the Cougars (4-3) retained the Silver Cup with a 2-0 victory over Charleston Southern (3-4) on Wednesday at the CSU Soccer Field.
How It Happened
•   The teams went into halftime tied 0-0 despite combining for 17 shots.
•   It remained a defensive battle throughout most of the second half, staying scoreless into the 75th minute.Â
•   The Cougars were able to break the deadlock with 15 minutes remaining in regulation on a goal by Caitlyn Gonzalez, assisted by Talia Colchico.
•   Charleston added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute when Mary Katherine Waters scored, assisted by Olivia Freitas.Â
•   The Bucs had two solid scoring opportunities the rest of the way, but shots by
Grace Harr and
Kat Klingensmith were just off target.
