CHARLESTON, S.C. – Deadlocked in a 3-3 tie and in the final set, freshman Luiza Fullana came up clutch with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win in the fifth flight clinching a 4-3 Charleston Southern win over Davison Sunday from the Buccaneer Tennis Center.

Charleston Southern (4-4) once again had an early lead taking the doubles point thanks to wins at all three flights. Davidson (4-5) would respond in the first singles decision on the second court but freshman Zoe Cauthen gave the Bucs the lead right back at 2-1 behind a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 decision in flight No. 4 over her Wildcat foe.

Michelle Schmitz then made it a 3-1 Charleston Southern lead with a gut-check 6-3, 7-6 two-set win on court No. 3, but the Wildcats wouldn't go away easily. Wins at first and sixth flights quickly tied the match at 3-all setting the stage for Fullana's moment in the spotlight.

The duo of Cauthen and Tiffany Pyritz got the Bucs rolling in doubles play taking down their counterparts 6-4 continuing their dominance this spring. The tandem has a 6-1 record to pace the Bucs in doubles including a 4-1 mark at the top flight. Those two were joined in the win column in doubles play by Hilda Lundstedt and Liz Williams, who clinched the point with a 7-5 victory at court No. 3 before Schmitz and Fullana made it a clean sweep with a 7-6 win in the second flight.

Sunday's victory was the first win over the Wildcats and moved the Bucs back above .500 at home, where they have dominated since the start of the 2010 season.
