Bucs pitch second straight clean sheet in win over Hampton

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Bri Robinson scored the match-winning goal 79 seconds into Saturday afternoon's contest and Jenna Moran made seven saves, leading Charleston Southern past Hampton, 2-0, at Wanner Stadium.

Robinson's match winner came on a rebound from close range. Erin Rush scored the Bucs' other goal by way of the penalty spot.

The Bucs wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Emma Ryan forced a shot on goal that set up Robinson's tap-in from close range. CSU had two more shots and four corners in the first half, but was unable to extend its lead in the first half. Hampton took four shots on target in the opening 45 minutes but Moran stopped all four to keep the Pirates off the board.

Charleston Southern took complete control of the second half, outshooting Hampton by a 10-3 margin while also taking two of the three corner kicks in the half. Pirate goalkeeper Sydney Johnson kept Hampton in the match with 10 saves, but Rush converted on a penalty kick with less than 10 minutes on the clock to ice the match. Moran stopped all three Hampton shots in the second half for her second straight clean sheet and sixth of the season.
