Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Charleston Southern falls to No. 25-ranked Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Charleston Southern women's basketball completed its pre-exam schedule Sunday afternoon with a 83-32 setback at No. 25 Florida State inside the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Tallahassee, Fla.

LEADING THE WAY
Skylar Baltezegar paced the Buccaneers with eight points, dropping in 3-of-7 field goals and both of her free throw attempts. She also shared team-high honors with six boards, equaling the effort by Alyssia Faye.

WINANS SETS SEASON HIGH
Makenna Winans came off the bench for a season-best four points. She buried 2-of-3 charity tosses and added a field goal as each player who entered the game as a substitute (Victoria Dames, Jordan Rogers, Sharita Godfrey, Janaia Fargo and Winans) all contributed to the team's scoring.

GAUNTLET OF NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
The Bucs have faced three opponents among the Power 5 conferences as part of their early-season non-conference slate. The schedule has featured matchups at Alabama (Nov. 9), at Auburn (Nov. 26) and at Florida State (Dec. 5). Charleston Southern (0-7) will welcome another member of the ACC to town, as Duke arrives in the Holy City for a Dec. 21 contest inside Buccaneer Fieldhouse.

LINEUP SHUFFLE
Head coach Clarisse Garcia deployed her fourth different starting lineup for today's action. On the court for the opening tip were Baltezegar, Sha'Mya Leigh, Madison Adamson, Faye and Tori Gittens. It marks Baltezegar's second career start of her freshman campaign after also earning the spot against George Mason in the home opener, Nov. 16.

TOO STRONG ON THE GLASS
Helping Florida State (6-2) to the triumph was a 56-to-25 rebounding advantage. In addition to the dozen collected by Baltezegar and Faye, Godfrey secured three and Rogers and Winans each hauled in two to boost the Bucs' total.

UP NEXT
Charleston Southern returns to action Dec. 16 when it plays host to in-state foe Furman after an 11-day hiatus due to fall semester final exams. The two squads will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in the opening contest of a Buccaneer doubleheader with the men's program playing host to Tennessee State at 8 p.m.
