Buccaneers unable to slow third-quarter run in road loss

GREENSBORO, N.C. – A three-point game was opened wide in the third quarter and the Charleston Southern women's basketball team dropped an 88-50 decision at North Carolina A&T Wednesday evening in the first meeting between the two programs as Big South members.
CLOSE THROUGH 20
The Buccaneers kept things tight in the opening half, only trailing 32-29 at the break. Charleston Southern (1-16, 1-5 Big South) opened the game by taking a 7-2 lead before the Lady Aggies started their rally. The home side overtook CSU by the break and then pulled away in the third quarter, breaking free and keeping the Bucs off the scoreboard for an extended period of time.
THREE IN DOUBLE FIGURES
Charleston Southern was led by three in double-digit scoring, topped by Alyssia Faye's dozen. She hit 6-of-13 from the field to go along with three rebounds and the team's lone blocked shot. She scored the final two baskets in the contest.
Two-time Big South Freshman of the Week Skylar Baltezegar added 11 points and a team-best six rebounds, while Janaia Fargo poured in 10 points to round out the trio. Each of Fargo's three field goals came from behind the 3-point arc.
FIRST MATCHUP
While the two sides had met previously, it was 2004 the last time they faced one another. North Carolina A&T (4-10, 1-3 Big South) evened the all-time series at 3-3 with the wins and losses continuing to alternate throughout the entire six matchups.
