Buccaneers return to action Wednesday night at Gardner-Webb

CHARLESTON, S.C. – A week since it last played will come to a close for the Charleston Southern women's basketball program Wednesday night, as it travels to Boiling Springs, North Carolina, for a Big South clash with Gardner-Webb. The Buccaneers and Runnin' Bulldogs are set to tip at 7 p.m. from inside Paul Porter Arena on ESPN3.

Opening Tip
• The dawn of the new year for the Charleston Southern women's basketball program begins Wednesday night, as the Buccaneers travel to Gardner-Webb.
 
• The Bucs will be look to be inside the friendly confines of Buccaneer Fieldhouse for each of the first-four Saturdays of January before playing host to only one weekend league matchup in February to conclude the regular season.
 
• CSU enters Wednesday's clash after defeating Winthrop 67-54 in its league opener Dec. 29 in Rock Hill. It marked the Big South debut and first career victory for head coach Clarisse Garcia.
 
• Forward Skylar Baltezegar has been named the Big South Freshman of the Week in each of the last-two weeks, Dec. 27 and Jan. 3. She is the first multi-time recipient for the program since 2008-09 and the only player in the conference to garner the nod in consecutive weeks, this season. She is one of three players to earn multiple freshman of the week plaudits in 2021-22.
