The Charleston Southern women's basketball team is back at home this Sunday for a battle with the Georgia Southern Eagles at the Buc Dome. The Bucs (1-1) are looking to get back in the win column after losing a road game to Duke on Thursday night.

The Eagles are led by Anita Howard, who is in her fourth year in Statesboro. Under the direction of Howard, Georgia Southern has made big strides from year-to-year. Last season, the team finished with a record of 18-10, which was their best finish since the 2009-2010 season.
The Eagles were known for their quick and efficient scoring. They finished fifth in the nation with 79.1 points per game as well as rebounds (46.3 per game). The scoring average was a new single-season record in Statesboro.
Georgia Southern (1-0) opened their season last Monday wth a 99-47 win over Allen. In that game, they took a total of 32 three pointers, hitting on 34.4% of their attempts. Defensively, they forced 28 turnovers and scored 38 points off of those turnovers.

After playing a clean game last Monday against Georgia College and State, the Buccaneers struggled taking care of the basketball on Thursday night against Duke, turning the ball over 29 times. That nearly doubled from the 15 turnovers that they had in their win against Georgia College.
Catherine Alben is the leading scorer and rebounder for the Bucs this season, averaging 14.5 ppg and 8 rpg during the first two games of the season. This included her 22-point, 13-rebound performance in her college debut against GCSU.
Sha'Mya Leigh is averaging 34 minutes per game, which is the most on the team. The Senior from Dayton, Ohio is one of the four returning players from a year ago. Leigh's 10.5 ppg makes her the second-leading scorer on the team.
Bike for Bucs
In partnership with Charleston Coffee Roasters, the Bucs will be taking part in a fundraiser before and during the game on Sunday. Fans that
donate will get free admission into the game. The team's goal is to raise $10,000 for their economic funds.
Chuck Troiani, CFO of Charleston Coffee Roasters, will finish his 100-mile bike across Charleston during the game inside the Buc Dome.
