The Charleston Southern women's basketball team fell at the hands of the Clemson Tigers on Thursday night by a score of 84-31. The Bucs fell to 2-6 overall (2-2 at home).
28 turnovers by the Buccaneers led to 31 points at the other end.
Saniya Jones got her first start of the season for the Bucs and pulled down 13 rebounds. She also tied for the team lead in points with seven on the night.
Catherine Alben also had seven points as well, and was 3/4 from the free throw line.
The Bucs were outscored in every quarter of the game, as the Tigers jumped out to a 17-5 lead in the first quarter. The second quarter was not much better, as the Bucs did not hit their first field goal until there was under a minute left in the first half. The Tigers took a 47-12 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, the Bucs came out stronger, scoring 10 points in the third quarter and nine in the fourth quarter. Overall,
Tori Gittens and
Sha'Mya Leigh both scored five points and made each of the Bucs' three pointers. Charleston Southern was just 2/23 on the night from beyond the arc. CSU shot 11/58 overall from the field, and were 7/12 from the free throw line.
