CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern men's and women's golf teams each picked up dual-match victories Saturday, as they defeated visiting Harvard by identical 3-2 scores in a match-play formatted event at the City of Charleston Municipal Golf Course.
MEN'S RESULTS
During the team's five-player lineup, Buccaneers winners included
Ben Carroll,
Griffin Tarver and
Caleb Loudin to earn the victory.
Carroll knocked off Kevin Sze 5&3, while Tarver won 6&4 against Diego Saavedra-Davila. Loudin picked up his triumph 5&4 against Jeffrey Fang.
In the individual matches,
Palmer Mason garnered a 4&3 victory against Adam Xiao.
On the men's side, all of the results were either won big or lost early.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
On the women's side, it was much closer as it came down to two CSU players who had to win their last hole to win the overall team results.
Libby Singleton made a 15-foot birdie putt on 17 to extend her match to the 18th hole before dropping in a seven-foot putt to halve her match.
Caroline Engelbredt drained an 18-footer for birdie on her last hole to also halve her match.
Picking up the three wins for the Bucs included
Isabell Friberg earning a 5&4 decision over Meiyi Yan,
Erica Whitehouse defeating Yoona Kim 1-up and
Shani Brynard tallying a 2&1 win against the Crimson's Katie Dzialga.
