CHARLESTON, S.C. – Layla Senter was the only member of the Charleston Southern women's outdoor track & field program to compete Sunday at the NCAA Last Chance Qualifier meet, held at the Bagwell-Settle Track in Charleston, South Carolina. She made the appearance memorable, as she set a new school standard in the shot put.
Senter set the record-breaking distance of 14.87m (49'9.5") on her second recorded toss during the event, of which she was one out of the two athletes. Three of her six tosses counted but it did not take long for her to surpass her previous personal best, which was had stood as the program's all-time best since she set it in the outdoor opener, the CSU Throws and Distance Challenge, March 11.
A select number of Buccaneers return to action with the NCAA East Preliminary, May 25-28, in Bloomington, Indiana. That list will be revealed after the conclusion of all meets leading up to the event.
