Hidalgo Nets First Goal in Sunday Loss

Charleston, S.C. – Fiama Hidalgo scored her first collegiate goal in the second minute of Sunday's match, but Charleston Southern couldn't find the net again as the Bucs fell to Wofford 2-1.

The Bucs stole the opening kickoff from Wofford and set up a corner kick from Erin Rush. She placed it perfectly in the box to find Hidalgo on the other end for a header goal.

Wofford responded in 29th minute when Ashley Grant delivered a great pass Alexis Mapplebeck in the box and Mapplebeck found the back of the net. Grant had a chance two minutes later, but Sara Curtis was there to make the save and keep the game tied.

Early in the second half, Mia Bookhard curled a corner kick around everyone and into the net to give the Terriers the lead. The Bucs had several chances to find the equalizer, including a 72nd minute corner kick from Rush that Madisen Mitchum directed towards the net, but was saved by the keeper. Jenea Knight had two shots in the 85th and 86th minutes, but both were kept out of the net by the Wofford keeper.
