CHARLESTON, S.C. - After a two-game road trip, the Charleston Southern women's basketball team is back at the Buc Dome this Saturday for a 2 p.m. battle with the Presbyterian Blue Hose. The Bucs (2-12, 0-3 in conference) are looking for their first Big South win and their first victory since November 23
rd against Western Carolina.

After dropping their first conference game on the road against Campbell, the Blue Hose come into this game winners of two straight against Winthrop and Radford. Much like the Charleston Southern, Presbyterian have had a plethora of new faces enter the equation for the 2022-23 season, as 11 new players have joined the squad. So far, this team full of new faces has a 6-8 (2-1 in conference) this season; however, they are just 1-6 on the road. They are on pace to have a better season than last year, when they went 12-18 (6-12 in conference)
This season, the Blue Hose have been near the top of the Big South on the offensive side of the ball. they have been led by Bryanna Brady, who leads the Big South with a 53.3% field goal percentage as well as Tilda Sjokvist, who is second in assists with 4.36 per game.
The Blue Hose are led by Head Coach Alaura Sharp, who is in her fifth season in Clinton. Coming into the season, her team was projected to finish seventh in the preseason polls. Her best season was in the 2020-21 season, when Presbyterian finished 11-10, which was its best season since the 2015-16 season.
Charleston Southern
- In their last game against Longwood, the Bucs scored 70 points. That was their highest point total since their opening-night win against Georgia College, when they scored 81 points.
- This season, CSU is averaging 51.43 points per game, which is eighth in the Big South. Only Winthrop and USC Upstate are below the Bucs.
- The fourth quarter has been a problem for the Bucs over the last few games. Against USC Upstate and Longwood, they have been outscored by a combined 35-17 in the final quarter.
- The Bucs are top four in the Big South in two categories; they are tied for fourth in the conference, averaging 37.86 rebounds per game, while averaging 3.36 blocked shots per game
- Once again, the freshmen shined against the Lancers this past Wednesday. Catherine Alben led all Buccaneer scorers with 16, while also pulling down five rebounds and a steal. She is the Bucs leading scorer this season, averaging 9.3 points per game.
- Carleigh Andrews had a season-high in points against Longwood, scoring 11 in just her second career start. The freshman is shooting 31.8% from the field this season.
- Kennedi Jackson and Madison Adamson are both just outside the top 10 in the conference in defensive rebounding. Jackson is 11th in the conference with 4.21 defensive rebounds per game and Adamson is right behind with 4.12 per game.
- Against Longwood, Adamson also notched her first double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. She was 4/5 from the field.
