Bucs Fall on the Road in Tampa

TAMPA, FL -  The Charleston Southern women's basketball team fell on the road on Thursday, dropping an 81-35 contest with the South Florida Bulls in a mid-week, morning matchup.
 
South Florida (6-3) led from the beginning, as they started the game on an 11-0 run. Kennedi Jackson scored the Bucs (1-6) first basket with 5:20 to go in the opening quarter. Charleston Southern cut the deficit to nine points to end the first quarter, but the Bulls took over from there.
 
The Bulls began the second quarter on a 15-2 run, as they knocked down five three pointers within the first few minutes, four of which were on consecutive possessions. They took a 30-point lead into the locker room with the score at 49-19.
 
USF continued their success in the second half, outscoring CSU 32-16 in the third and fourth quarters. The Bucs turned the ball over 17 times leading to 23 points the other way. They were outrebounded by USF 56-33 leading to 22 second-chance points by the Bulls.
 
After allowing six of the first 10 three point attempts to fall, the Bucs held the Bulls to just 1/11 the rest of the way. Charleston Southern was 3/14 from beyond the arc and shot just 22.2% overall from the field. Jackson led the Bucs with 11 points, while Saniya Jones led the Bucs with seven rebounds.    
 
Next Up
Charleston Southern is back home this Saturday, as they host in-state foe South Carolina State at 2 p.m. on ESPN+. This will be the first of two played at The Buc Dome, as the men's team faces South Carolina State at 5:30 p.m.
