CHARLESTON, S.C. – After jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the second half, the Charleston Southern women's soccer team dropped their first match since their opener with a 2-1 loss at the hands of The Citadel Bulldogs on Wednesday at CSU Soccer Field.
After a scoreless first half, Claire DeAngelis gave the Bucs (4-2-2) a 1-0 lead in the 46th minute with her third goal of the season on her right foot. Daniela Contreras had the assist.
The Bulldogs (3-1-4) continued to attack the goal, as they put up 14 shots (7 SOG) throughout the afternoon, tying the score at one just shy of the 69th minute. Eight minutes later, The Citadel took a 2-1 lead on a fast-break goal.
Jenna Moran had five saves on the day on seven shots on goal. As a team, the Bucs put up 10 shots (4 SOG). DeAngelis had a team-high four shots and two on goal, while Kyia Tucker and Elin Persson also had shots on goal.

Charleston Southern will be at home this Saturday, as they will honor the seniors prior to their 1 p.m. kickoff against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs. This will be their final match before conference play begins on September 23rd.
