McCartney, Augustin Rewrite Top Times in School History to Open Indoor Season

BOSTON – Charleston Southern Women's Track and Field began their 2025 indoor season on Saturday afternoon creating the new top two marks in school history for the indoor 5K. The Bucs sent a pair of their distance athletes to compete in the 5K at the Sharon Colyear Season Opener hosted by Boston University.

Sarah McCartney was the first person to hit the track for the Buccaneers as she competed in the fifth heat of the event and claimed 4th in it. She finished with a time of 16:22.51, slashing 15 seconds of her previous personal best which also stood as the previous school record. This time now ranks as the third-fastest in Big South history. She set this time last year at the Gamecock Opener which was a time of 16:37.22.

Keerstin Augustin was the other female runner to travel with the group for this weekend and had a tremendous race as well. She was in the ninth and final heat of the meet and this marked her first career indoor 5K. She recorded a time of 16:57.30 for second in her heat and second in school history for the distance.

This was the team's lone meet prior to Christmas Break and exam week for the Bucs. They will have their next action on Saturday, January 11 at the Gamecock Opener hosted by South Carolina.
