FARMVILLE, VA – The Charleston Southern women's basketball team fell to the Longwood Lancers for the second time this season, as they dropped a 63-56 affair on Saturday on the road.
Â
Kennedi Jackson was one rebound away from a double-double, as she finished with 20 points and nine rebounds. Shimei Muhammad had nine rebounds as well, and Madison Adamson finished with 15 points and six rebounds.
Â
Both teams traded baskets in the first quarter, as Keshunti Nichols finally gave the Bucs (7-15, 4-5 in conference) the 15-14 lead heading into the second quarter, where they extended the lead to seven points when Catherine Alben made it 21-14 with 7:47 to go in the first half. From there, the Lancers (6-16, 3-6 in conference) outscored the Bucs 21-12 to take a two-point lead into halftime.
Â
The Lancers pushed the lead to 10 with a jump shot at the beginning of the fourth quarter and took a lead by 12 points with 3:40 left. The Bucs tried to fight back, getting a three pointer from Jordan Berry and a pair of free throws from Jackson to cut it to 56-51 with 1:54 left; however, Charleston Southern was unable to draw within four points, as the Lancers escaped with the victory.
