CHARLESTON – Women's Tennis continued their incredible season with another home victory on Tuesday afternoon defeating Toledo by a 5-2 final score.
The Rockets were able to claim the doubles point at the start of the match taking the victories on courts #2 and #3. The Buccaneers'
Jessica Braun and
Noa Boyd claimed the topflight however with a score of 6-3, their first victory as a pairing.
In singles matches, the Bucs immediately were able to turn the tides back in their favor securing first set victories on four of the courts and cruising to straight set wins on three of them. Boyd was the first to have hers end with a 6-0, 6-2 decision on court #3 followed by Braun who won in the topflight 6-4, 6-3.
Amila Jusufbegovic took the decision in hers by a score of 7-6 (3), 7-5 on court #2 to bring the Bucs to a thrilling 3-1 advantage.
Brenda Yoris provided the team with the match point to clinch the victory for the team. She dropped the first set and was able to overcome it by winning the following two by 6-4, 6-2 scorelines on the #5 court to continue her stellar play as a freshman this season.
The day ended with the matches on courts #4 and #6.
Marina Skegro narrowly dropped her match from flight #4 by a score of 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (4). Singh prevailed in hers after dropping the first set with scores of 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 from flight #6.
Charleston Southern will now enjoy the remainder of their spring break as they have ten days until their next match. Next up for the Bucs are a pair of home matches on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 as the team will be taking on Purdue and Murray State on those days.
