CHARLESTON – Women's Tennis opened their 2025 home slate by sweep on Tuesday afternoon over Lander. The Buccaneers were originally scheduled to take them on last week, but the match was postponed to this week due to the winter weather that moved into the area.
Charleston Southern won the doubles point, taking all three of the matches. They took the topflight by a score of 6-0 with
Noa Boyd and
Amila Jusufbegovic taking the win. On #2,
Marina Skegro and
Kassandra Di Staulo won their match 6-3 to clinch the point.
Emmie Moore and
Brenda Yoris rounded out the action with a 7-5 decision on court #3 for the Bucs.
In singles, the Buccaneers did not skip a beat as they rolled to straight set victories on all six courts. Boyd and Jusufbegovic dominated their competition at #3 and #4, winning 6-0, 6-0 each, not allowing the visitors to claim a single game. Skegro clinched the team's win with her 6-2, 6-2 decision in the topflight.
The rest of the day finished out with Yoris winning 6-2, 6-4 at #6 while Moore won 6-2, 6-0 at #2. Di Staulo finished off the sweep with the final score being 6-1, 6-4 at court #5.
Charleston Southern will return to the courts this weekend as they will take a trip to the Queen City. They face Charlotte on Sunday, February 2 and then will face Queens the next day, Monday, February 3 to finish off the tour.
