CHARLESTON, S.C. – Despite a furious fourth-quarter surge and career night from redshirt sophomore Thelma Barbitch, the Charleston Southern women's basketball team fell just short Tuesday evening, dropping a 65–57 battle to Georgia Southern inside the Buc Dome.

The Buccaneers trailed by as many as 15 early in the fourth quarter, but stormed back behind a barrage of late threes from Barbitch and a 10–2 run that cut the deficit to two in the final minutes. CSU outscored the Eagles 17–12 in the fourth and forced three GS turnovers in the period, but clutch free throws in the closing seconds helped Georgia Southern hold on.
