LEXINGTON, S.C. – #1 Charleston Southern punched their ticket to the Big South Championship Finals on Friday morning with a 4-0 victory over #4 Presbyterian. This becomes the fifth consecutive season that the Buccaneers will take part in the championship match.
The Bucs were able to get the early point from doubles to start the day in dominant fashion.
Marina Skegro and
Kassandra Di Staulo won the #2 court at 6-2 which was followed by
Noa Boyd and
Amila Jusufbegovic claiming the topflight at 6-4.
In singles, Charleston Southern won in straight sets on three courts to reach the needed four points for the victory. Di Staulo won on court #6 by a 6-1, 6-1 scoreline which was followed by Jusufbegovic's 6-2, 6-4 at #4.
Emmie Moore, the Big South Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year provided the clinching point with her 6-3, 6-2 win in the topflight.
The remaining three matches went unfinished. In each of them, the Blue Hose claimed the first set, but the Bucs were close to claiming the second or already had with a third set to happen soon.
The Buccaneers will face #3 Gardner-Webb on Saturday at noon for the Big South's Championship as well as the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This will be the first time squads have faced off in the championship match since 2022 when the Bucs won 4-0 for their second consecutive Big South Tournament Championship.
