RADFORD, Va. – The Charleston Southern women's basketball team erased a 17-point deficit and stunned Radford 63-59 Saturday afternoon inside the Dedmon Center, securing its first road win against the Highlanders since 2010 and opening Big South Conference play 2-0 for the first time since the 2020-21 season.
The comeback was fueled by a career performance from
Courtney Davis, who scored a career-high 13 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, as the Buccaneers outscored Radford by 17 over the final 10 minutes.
Radford controlled the opening period, scoring efficiently and building early momentum. Charleston Southern struggled to find rhythm offensively, shooting 3-for-10 from the field, while Radford posted 15 points to take a 15-8 lead after one. The Highlanders extended their advantage in the second quarter, outscoring CSU 18-15. Charleston Southern remained composed late in the half, trimming the margin slightly but still trailing 33-23 at halftime.
Charleston Southern tightened defensively coming out of the locker room, holding Radford to 5-of-16 shooting in the third. The Buccaneers completed the comeback with a dominant 29-12 fourth quarter. Davis took over offensively, scoring 11 points in the period, while CSU shot 58.8 percent from the floor and 6-for-8 from three. Charleston Southern used a 10-0 run late in the quarter to seize control and closed the game by converting key free throws to secure the 63-59 victory.
