ATLANTA, GA – Charleston Southern competed in the Georgia Tech Invitational's first day on Friday with
Odin Ferency and
Laden Beckwith highlighting the performances at it.
Odin Ferency won the shot put at the meet by nearly a full meter, recording his two best throws on the day on his final two. His best mark was a 17.80m (58' 4.75") which is just shy of the school record and a career best by two-and-a-half feet. The mark also ranks as the ninth-best in conference history.
Tarrell Miles had a 14.51m in the shot put. In the hammer throw, Miles threw 51.23m.
Landry Polk had a 58.92m in the javelin which was just shy of his career best and
Jaden Bellush threw 49.91m in the event.
Laden Beckwith continued his dominant freshman season with a 10.43 in the 100m dash to tie his personal best and claimed an individual runner-up finish in a field of over 100 runners.
Brennan Johnson also ran in it and had an 11.02. In the 110m hurdles,
Jayden Anderson recorded a time of 14.97.
In the 5K, the Bucs had three different freshmen compete in it.
William Reid was the top finisher from Charleston Southern crossing the finish line in 14:58.81.
JD Gilman and
James Tyler had times of 15:09.87 and 15:35.68.
The Buccaneers will return to the track tomorrow with field events beginning at 11:30 a.m. and track ones at noon.
