PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Charleston Southern men's golf team competed at the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge, finishing eighth in the 16-team field with a three-round total of 877 (13-over par). The tournament was hosted by Golfweek and played at True Blue Golf Club, a par-72 course measuring 7,028 yards.
Dewi John led the Buccaneers tying for 29th overall, carding rounds of 76, 71, and 72 to finish at 219 (3-over par). John showed consistency over the final two rounds, shooting 1-under across his last 36 holes to pace Charleston Southern.
Theo Takman and Bailey Bjornson each tied for 34th at 220 (4-over par). Takman posted rounds of 74, 71, and 75, while Bjornson rebounded from an opening-round 78 with rounds of 69 and 73 to climb the leaderboard. Bjornson's 69 in round two marked the lowest round by any Buc this tournament.
Alex North and Owen Newberry both tied for 57th overall at 225 (9-over par). North recorded rounds of 74, 74, and 77, while Newberry opened with a 72 and followed with rounds of 73 and 80.
Harrison Parker rounded out the Buccaneers' lineup with a tie for 73rd, carding rounds of 78, 78, and 74 to total 230 (14-over par).
As a team, Charleston Southern opened the tournament with a 296 before firing a 284 in the second round and closing with a 297 to secure an eighth-place finish at the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge.
The Bucs will now set their sights on the Big South Championships taking place in Fripp Island, South Carolina April 26-29.
