CONWAY, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's soccer team battled throughout the night, but fell to Coastal Carolina, 3-0, in its 2026 season opener Thursday evening at CCU Soccer Complex.
The Chanticleers took the lead late in the first half when Kamden Pierce found the back of the net in the 42nd minute, sending Coastal Carolina into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
Coastal Carolina doubled its lead early in the second half when Sammy Schulze scored in the 56th minute off assists from Reegan Wagg and Kyra Kotsopoulos. Lauryn Barringer added a third goal in the 82nd minute, assisted by Landri Allee, to complete the scoring.
CSU created several opportunities in the second half, recording five shots and earning nine corner kicks after the break. Coastal Carolina goalkeeper Aris Lamanna made two saves to preserve the shutout, while Buccaneers goalkeeper
MacKenzie Marotz finished with three saves in her first career start.
