ELON, N.C. - The Charleston Southern women's soccer team battled Elon on Sunday afternoon, but the Phoenix scored once in the first half and twice after the break to earn a 3-0 victory at Rudd Field.
The Phoenix opened the scoring in the 44th minute when Jordan Green found the back of the net off assists from Jess Beck and Isa Murdock. Elon carried its 1-0 advantage into halftime despite CSU generating five shots during the opening 45 minutes.
Elon doubled its lead in the 64th minute when Maya Abousaab scored off an assist from Green. The Phoenix added a third goal in the 82nd minute as Murdock found the back of the net to cap the scoring.
CSU finished with eight shots on the afternoon, including two on target.
Gianna Simon and
Hailey Swenson each put a shot on frame, while
Avery Mason made seven saves in goal for the Buccaneers.
