Antwan Toomer

Antwan Toomer joined the Charleston Southern football coaching staff in the spring of 2019 as the Wide Receivers Coach.

Toomer’s first season with the Bucs’ outside wide receivers saw a career-effort from All-Conference selection Kameron Brown, while Garris Schwarting and Jaquan Williams added top finishes among the CSU receivers in 2019. Brown set the CSU single season record with 10 receiving touchdowns, while Schwarting posted a career-high 575 receiving yards and four scores. The Bucs had individuals ranked in the top-10 in the Big South in yards per catch and touchdowns scored.

Toomer joined the Buccaneers after a high school teaching and coaching career (2010-2019) that included stops at North Paulding HS, Sprayberry HS (twice), Camden County HS, Cartersville HS (State Champion) and Jones County HS (alma mater). While at the high school level, Toomer worked as the Wide Receivers' Coach and College Recruiting Liaison where he accounted for 64 Student Athletes to sign LOIs to play college football. Some of those include Chris Conley (UGA/Jacksonville Jaguars), Jabari Zuniga (Florida), Rodrigo Blakenship (UGA), Dreshun Miller (West Virginia), Trey Sermon (Oklahoma), Trevor Lawrence (Clemson), Jonathan Cruz (UNC-Charlotte) Jackson Lowe (Tennessee), Jake Lanford (Charleston Southern), and Kaleb Chatmon (Charleston Southern). 

Prior to his high school career, Toomer was a graduate of Valdosta State University where he received his Bachelor's Degree (Criminal Justice) and his Master's Degree (Educational Leadership). While there, he was a Student Assistant for the 2008 Season and promoted to a Graduate Assistant position with the Wide Receivers for the 2009 season. 

Toomer is a native of Macon, Ga. and is married to Stephanie Toomer. The couple have two sons.
