Charleston, S.C. - Charleston Southern's
Kyle Reighard and
J.D. Sosebee will be representing the Buccaneers at the 2019 Big South Conference Football Media Day as announced this afternoon.
The redshirt senior duo will accompany Head Coach
Autry Denson to the conference's annual preseason event held at the Renaissance Suites Hotel in Charlotte, N.C. The event will kick-off the 18th season of Big South football and features a luncheon at noon followed by interview sessions with local, regional and national media outlets.
Kyle Reighard, a two-time All-Conference selection, finished second in the Big South in punt average (40.9), third in total punts (66) and third in yards punted (2,698) this past season. The Salem, Va. native earned First Team All-Conference recognition in 2017 and doubles as the Buccaneers' primary holder in leading CSU's special teams unit.
J.D. Sosebee earned Big South First Team honors at linebacker in 2018 after finishing sixth in the Big South Conference in tackles per game (7.2), first in fumbles recovered (3), and fifth in tackles among linebackers. He was fourth on the team with 6.5 tackles for loss and added 0.5 sacks on the year. The Gainesville, Ga. native recorded double-digit tackles in four games, including a season high 13 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss against Savannah State.
As part of the event, the conference will announce its annual preseason All-Conference teams in a video presentation. In addition, the Big South head football coaches will speak at the luncheon and the preseason Players of the Year will be recognized. The preseason poll and preseason All-Conference teams will first be posted on the Big South's Social Media platforms, and later available online at www.BigSouthSports.com starting at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
Again this year, interviews with each team's head coach and student-athletes will be part of a live show hosted by Evan Lepler starting at approximately 1:30 p.m. (see below for full schedule). The show will air live on an ESPN platform for the sixth consecutive year, this time within the ESPN app
