CHARLESTON, S.C. - Nine Buccaneers were recognized to the Phil Steele 2019 Preseason All-Big South team as announced by the publication.

Charleston Southern offensive linemen Zack Evans and Stephen Haralambis, linebacker J.D. Sosebee, and lone snapper Ethan Ray all received First Team recognition. Wide Receiver Kameron Brown, tight end Travay Hatten, linebacker Edward King, and punter Kyle Reighard were recognized on the Second Team, while placekicker Alex Usry earned Third Team recognition.

Evans and Haralambis form a strong right-left guard tandem for the Buccaneers this season as the duo earned preseason recognition. Evans started all 11 games for the Buccaneers playing primarily at right guard, while Haralambis was on the field for first snap in eight games. The Bucs averaged 168.5 rushing yards per game on the season, including four games eclipsing the 200-yard rushing mark. For 2018, the Bucs averaged 27:52 in time of possession.

Sosebee finished sixth in the Big South Conference in tackles per game (7.2), first in fumbles recovered (3), and fifth in tackles among linebackers. He was fourth on the team with 6.5 tackles for loss and added 0.5 sacks on the year. The Gainesville, Ga. native recorded double-digit tackles in four games, including a season-high 13 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss against Savannah State.

Ray lived up to his preseason All-Conference recognition last season in earning Second Team All-Conference honors as the long snapper. The redshirt sophomore averaged a 0.72 snap time and helped the Bucs' unit post snap-to-kick averages of 2.06. He was responsible for six fair catch calls in special teams coverage and downed the ball inside the opponents' 10-yard line four times in 2018.

Brown looks to bounce back from an injury-shortened season in 2018 as the redshirt senior was limited to three games. He is a two-time All-Conference selection that has totaled over 1,000 career yards over his three seasons on the field, including four 100-plus yard games. He boasts a career-high 123 yard game against Monmouth in 2017, and has finished in the top 10 in the NCAA in yards per reception twice in his career.

Hatten earned Second Team recognition after lining up at tight end over the last three seasons. The Central, S.C. native has lined up in 32 games over his playing career, picking up a pair of touchdowns in the 2016 season, while adding catches against Mississippi State and Campbell over the last two seasons.

King finished fifth on the Bucs with 43 total tackles on the season this past year after lining up in all 11 games at middle linebacker. He posted a career-high 11 tackles (eight solo) in CSU's loss to Monmouth, while adding nine tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss at Campbell.

Reighard, a two-time All-Conference selection, finished second in the Big South in punt average (40.9), third in total punts (66) and third in yards punted (2,698) this past season. The Salem, Va. native earned First Team All-Conference recognition in 2017 and doubles as the Buccaneers' primary holder in leading CSU's special teams unit.

Usry takes over the primary placekicking duties for the Buccaneers this season after serving as the primary kickoff specialist for CSU in 2018. Usry avered 55.6 yards per kickoff last season and posted three touchbacks.

The Bucs continue preparing for the 2019 season under first-year head coach Autry Denson. CSU opens the season on August 31 at Furman with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
